THE FARM Wild Oats Farm is a small family farm located in Fluvanna County in the heart of central Virginia. Farm operations began in 2000 with the primary goal of using sustainable agricultural practices to raise livestock in a healthy and stress-free environment to produce quality grass finished meat products for the local community. |

Designated a “Conservation Farm” by the Thomas Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District in 2004, all of the streams and ponds are fenced, and all livestock drinks fresh well water from automatic water troughs. Fresh well water reduces the risk of disease and promotes growth in young animals. Rotational grazing is the foundation of the farm; the cattle and sheep rotate through nine separate paddocks on a weekly basis. Wild Oats Farm is also enrolled in the CREP program, with over 7 acres along stream banks taken out of agricultural production and planted in hardwood trees. Wild Oats Farm is dedicated to managing the land in a sustainable manner with an emphasis on protecting the surface and groundwater resources. We are in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and do all we can to protect our national treasure.
Wild Oats Farm is diverse, including Murray Grey and Angus cattle, St. Croix Sheep, Boer cross goats, and Tamworth cross hogs. No antibiotics or synthetic hormones are given to the livestock that become a meat product of the farm. All of the livestock live as nature intended – cattle and sheep on grazing on pasture, goats browsing and grazing, and hogs grazing and rooting in the woods. You can be assured that all of the animals raised on the farm have been taken care of in a humane manner, using low stress techniques in health care and handling. You can also be assured that products purchased from Wild Oats Farm have been raised on the farm in the most natural environment.
